try smartpages.com and do a reverse look up, all you do is type in the phone number and if it is listed in the directory it will show who it belongs to (unless that person is listing info under a different name or bogus name) just a reminder, cell numberrs will only show what carrier the number orignated with and payphones also dont give any info either.

You can try *67 in front of the phone number and when they answer the number ask to whom you are speaking to unless they say a business name! That hides my number I am calling from and calls the number and they can't see who it is so they will not know who it is calling them when they answer the phone!

I believe it is illegal to do this. Certainly the telephone companies will not provide the name of a business if given the number, and the CDs they sell with the phone book on them have software to prevent you doing it. But the police can do it in exceptional circumstances.

just type the number in at google.com and it will run a lookup
It won't work for cell numbers though.
