So sorry you are dealing with this. I understand the shock that you must feel. It's hard to answer your question without knowing what stage and grade the cancer was in? In general it sounds good that surgery removed all visible signs of the cancer?
Anyway, here are some websites to answer some of your questions and perhaps help you out with support groups for colon cancer:
NCI: Colon and Rectal Cancer

American Cancer Society: Colon and Rectal Cancer

my father is a 9 year survivor.. he does have a colostomy. my father had chemo and radiation before the tumor was small enough to remove, it had shrunk 75% and he was opened front and back to remove the tumor. some colostomy's can be reversed but my dad has his forever. it has been a big life change for my parents but thank god we still have him. colon cancer is not a death sentence, i know how you feel, it is very scary and heart wrenching..It will take some adjustments in your life style but each and every day you have together will be a blessed one. god bless you and your family.

Well I think the first thing that has to be done is to find out if the cancer is gone. If not, you can get him to try emu oil gel caps, emu oil kills cancer cells and is safe to take. One should always consult their doctor before trying anything new.
