Fire fighters won't necessarily see them if it is a working house fire with lots of smoke or even if it is at night. But I've been on calls where neighbors have pointed it out to the ambulance squad or the fire department.
I've also seen fire chiefs and police do a scene size up and include looking for the stickers as part of the check. So it mostly depends on the protocols of the fire department and/or police department as to how effective the stickers are.
But all things told it would be better to have one than to risk not having one. Especially in the case of younger children who tend to hide instead of escaping during a fire.

The "child in here" sticker is only effective if the fire is not yet that big. In emergency cases, firefighters had to rely on cries for help for rescue missions.

no it doesnt matter, we are trained to search and not leave a stone unturned, we also suggest NOT to put those stickers on the childs window. Because there are a lot of sick people out there and that is a notice to them that there is a child in that room

Its not like we spend time looking for them, but if we see one- it sure as hell helps to size up the scene.
My suggestion? Don't put it on the windows- put it on the front door.

Possibly not, they probably check all rooms, closets, under beds and all else to see if its vacated, like when cars are submerged in water.

That's why you place them at points of entry and windows. They WILL see them and act on them if you put them in plain sight.
