Sounds like cellulitis. She needs antibiotics. Go to a different doctor, soon.

Your mom may have cellulitis but the main reason for the cellulitis is phlebitis or inflammation of the vein either from the previous IV medications or when an infection at the puncture site has sets in. Either way, since it has been more than 2 weeks and still the signs and symptoms are present, then it would be wise to either ask her doctor if she needs antibiotics (which I believe she needs considering the duration of symptoms) or seek a second opinion.

It sounds like your mom might have a blood clot.. it happens when you have had an IV for a long period of time. It happened to my mother, she had a pic-line (an IV which is threaded to the heart), and the day after she had it removed, she was in agony in her arm and shoulder. The doctor sent her for a CT scan, and sure enough, there was a massive clot in her vein from the IV.
Go back to the doctor and demand that she have a CT scan done, or go the ER and explain what happened, either way, your mom should not be in plain at this point, and it needs to be checked out.

I wish you and your mother all the best.
Good Luck.

This could be 'cellulitis'. This is serious and requires antibiotics. Difficult for me to know for sure without actually seeing her arms, but it sounds like cellulitis. Why was your mom admitted to hospital in the first place? Your mom needs to be seen by a doctor. Go to an ER to be seen by another doctor who will treat her.

Sounds like a good case of cellulitis. Probably should see about starting antibiotics...soon.

Go to an emergency clinic or to the ER if you have an immediate concern. If it can wait, find another doc who can see your mom.

I'm sorry I don't know what's wrong, but I urge you to go to another doctor, or ask to see a specialist.
