Because most people in their 40s are already married and have kids. It is also past the age where the biological need to procreate is no longer there that is why you don't see 40 year olds and over, populating the clubs or hanging out in every meat market.
However, finding a mate at any age is hard if you think it is. You've got to change the way you think in order to find your perfect mate. Make yourself look attractive to the people you want to attract -- go to places or events that interest you and you will meet them. But most of all, be the person you want to meet first before going out there, after all, like attracts like. I wish you the best!

It is alway hard finding a mate no matter what your age is. Its only after 40 that you refuse to put up with the same mess/drama that you did @ 21 or even 30. Thats why things are so hard. I am 40 and still looking. You know most people are age know what we are looking for a refuse to settle.

Thats easy...if you are looking for a mate when you hit 40, the good ones are taken and the ones that are available usually are not good at relationships or they would be taken too. For example, I'm 46...and alone. I must be one of the defective ones! LOL

Well, the typical rationale is that if a guy hasn't at least been married, or hasn't spread around a passel of kids, by the big 40, then something must be wrong.

Holy cow. I'm pushing 37 and I haven't, either...

because most folks are married or involved by that age. those who are back on the market tend to carry lots of baggage like scary ex's or kids etc. Plus, by the time you get to 40, the body tends to not be as firm (for guys or girls) and you dont get scoped out as much
