It's an oldie but goodie: 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. This is what I did before I was married: when I was dating someone or met someone new, I took his name and inserted into 1 Cor. 13 and asked myself...is this guy patient? is this guy kind. Does he envy, does he boast, is he proud? Does he dishonour me or others? Is he self-seeking, is easily angered? Does he keep records of wrongs? Does he delight in evil or rejoice with the truth? Does he protect, trust, hopes, and persevere?
Well, it worked. I married my 1 Corinthians man last July!
Oh, yeah...."Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion has light with darkness?" 2 Corinthians 6:14 (BEEN THERE, DONE THAT, JUST CAUSES HEARTBREAK AND CONFUSION)

I think the parable of Gideon's 300 is a fine example. Pick someone who's aware, intelligent, courageous and has valor.
