Lately my friend has been getting really forgetful and emotional and on top of that she is starting to get frustrated easily. Could this be the symtoms of some kind of illness or diease??

What would you call it if she forgets something that she said 30 seconds ago?
And it's getting hard for her to focus. It's happening all of a sudden so i'm wordering if it's just her being weird

Its probably stress due to something going on in her life.

Ask her what is going on with her?

When symptoms such as those appear suddenly, it is usually in response to a stressor in their life. The forgetfulness or seeming aloof is often seen in stress related problems, like posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This is often because the person is so distressed by the event that there is little mental energy left for daily or mundane tasks, like paying attention or being a good listener. It might be something much less stressful than PTSD, it could be almost anything, so more information about the person would help, like age for starters. Be supportive, but not pushy. Be a good listener and inquire about anything they might want to talk about. Tell them you are concerned.

Obviously people here are not going to know the answer as it could be any one of many things, also we do not have detail such as age etc. If this keeps happening to your friend and she is concerned, seeing a G.P. may be a good idea. She should make sure her diet is healthy and she is drinking plenty of water, this can make a world of difference to any "malfunction" if it is not too serious. What you have described also fits absence seizures, as well as a multitude of other difficulties, so really a only doctor face to face with your friend could give sound advice. Don't stress too much though, you don't even know if it is anything to stress about! Take care.

Is she of age for menopause. Does she have other symptoms like for depression? Stress can cause frustration and emotional ups and downs. Would help if she saw a mental health provider.

before we cross off Medical problems-could she be a diabetic?
Is she taking birth control and the strength could not be right for her-making her hormones out of sight. does she need help with something going on in her life, But, lets start with medical, encourage her to go to the doc's and get checked out. Have you spoken with her mom about this-might help to do so. After she checks out medically, then check out some counselling if she needs it.

She/He could be having low blood sugar symptoms. I have hypogloxemia and if it drops i get so confused and ill. I don't mean to for sure but it causes you to forget and get very irritated very quick. Try a snack when it happens or orange juice and see if it gets better. Good luck.

sounds like a teenager going through puberty, and everyone is stressing her out to the max..to the point where she has no confidence, and she needs reassurance right now...and hormones play a big part too...she will grow out of this..she is just frustrated, her actions don't sound like mental problems, as much as a combination of stress and being a teen in today's world...Just tell her I said to pray to God and to Jesus, and give Them all her worries, and They will take care of her and give her a great big hug for me!

This sounds like depression, get her to talk to someone a counsellor, a doctor, a teacher, a parent.
If she can get help now then it can be fixed before it gets worse and REALLY interferes with life.

She may have short-term memory loss or amnesia. The frustration may come from not being able to remember things.

It might be depression; but it might be nothing at all. If it lasts for two or three months almost everyday, she ought to see a doctor. It could also be blood sugar, thyroid, or more likely, her period.
