....but I'm not good enough for him. I've got too much emotional baggage and I've known the guy for years and I don't want to ruin his life.
I know we would be happy together, am I doing the right thing by ending it before it begins?

It's fairly obvious that you aren't good enough for him. Let him go and wait until someone else comes along who you are not good enough for either, then you can let him pass you by too. Eventually you will lower your sights and meet someone who you are good enough for, unfortunately, he will believe that he isn't good enough for you and that will be the end of that one.
Let's face it, you aren't going to meet anyone who will suit you any more than this guy.
Go for it, marry him now and make his life hell. He will probably enjoy it and so will you.
Stop buggering about with these stupid ideas and grab the love of your life while you still have the chance.

You know you have baggage - He doesn't want all of it, so remember not to overload him or drag him down.
If things start going bad, pull out before it gets too bad. Just don't lose him because "You're not good enough".
You are, you just doubt yourself too much.

If you know you would be happy together, then you wouldn't be ruining his life. If he truley cares for you, he wont care about your emotional baggage.

who says you are not good enough rubbish if you are good friends it will prob work I Had a lot of baggage we are still together 22 years later you must be good enough stop putting yourself down take it slowly keep dating

If you know that you'll be happy together, go for it. Like a lot of girls, you are too down on yourself, I am sure that your perception of yourself is worse than everyone else's is of you - take a chance, it could change your life.

Only you know the extent of your baggage. Maybe you should just talk to him and lay your cards on the table and let him decide if he could handle it. Maybe he will be your prince charming and rescue you :)
