Sorry but the Great Wall is no where near Shanghai. You'd have to fly to Beijing to see and touch the wall. But you can take the buy or train and check out some smaller cities like Xitang, ZhouZhuang or even Hang Zhou....alas still no Great Wall.

The Great Wall extends from north and east of Beijing to the far west. It is hundreds of miles from Shanghai. The train takes 12 hours between the two cities; air is about 2 hours.

You need to fly to Beijing, which is about an hour and half by flight. Beijing is the best city to enjoy the Great Wall.

There are two sections of the Great Wall are most popular: Badaling Great Wall and Mutianyu Great Wall. You can enjoy the Ming Tombs together with Badaling Great Wall, since they are in the same area and normally will be arranged in the same day tour. While the Mutianyu Great Wall is in the northeast of Beijing, which is farther than Badaling Great Wall but less crowded, which has better view of the Wall.
