Check the cords to make sure they are snugly plugged in.

Return it to the store if they'll take a return. If not then contact the manufacturer.

It's best to call them if you can and write them a polite letter explaining the situation.

Be sure to make it clear that a power outage didn't happen while you were watching a movie.

You will want to try different tapes in case the one tape is defective.

It's hard to give you a proper answer without seeing the VCR, but any how, my guess would be, some thing is out of order in menu. Just go there and play around and to see if every thing is, the way it should be. for instance, timer or some thing like that. I'm sure you'll find the problem. I might add that, the way you're describing, there's nothing wrong with wire or electronic problem in general, just check the menu. GOOD LUCK !

my VCR does the same thing. all VCR's come with a automatic shut-off if they are being over stressed or cannot properly execute commands such as PLAY or REWIND/FAST-FORWARD .you should try cleaning. If thats not the problem plug your VCR out for a full 4 hours and it will be set back to factory settings which should automatically fix the problem,

Sounds like an over hearting issue if it is doing it after awhile of running. Check to make sure the vents in the back and on top are clear.

If it keeps doing it, take it back if you can.

Is it with just the 1 tape? If so it is the tape, it's to tight. If all the time make sure it is not getting to hot, like blocked vents. If you got it at K-mart take back it has been bounced around and dropped,...a lot.

You still own a VCR? WAW

No offense to people who like it old-school, but please upgrade to a DVD Player. You'll have better video quality, and making copies are easier. Anyway, Good Luck.
