I have VERY poofy, dry, extremely curly, and weightless hair. I know most people would love to have weightless hair, but since I have hair that barely reaches my shoulders, the weightlessness makes it extremely frizzy and poof out all afro-like. I really want/need my hair to be much, much heavier. Do you have an suggestions?

Don't use shampoo!
Shampoo is not good for anyone's hair as it dries out the hair by stripping its natural oils, the ingredients in commercial shampoos are not exactly great for health either, for curly hair the dryness can be a particular problem.
Most people who go shampoo-free use bicarbonate of soda to wash and apple cider vinegar diluted in water as a rinse, it works very well but for curly haired people the 'curly-girl' method is far more affective at keeping hair clean, healthy and combating curly haired frizz, this method simply uses conditioner, no shampoo.
I'd HIGHLY recommend you look into going no-poo, I guarantee you that your hair will be much better for it, just as clean, far healthier and far more manageable. An advantage for you is that the normal no-poo method can have a 'detox period' where as the curly-girl method does not.
I'd also recommend the book Lorraine Massey's book 'Curly Girl' if you have curly hair, not only did she introduce the 'conditioner rinse' no-poo curly-girl method but she talks a lot about hair-care for curly haired people. You can pick up a copy of this book from Amazon for only £3.18 new so it's at least worth a try.
Take a look through the following links;

I basically found these methods via communities on Livejournal, there is a great no-poo community here - http://community.livejournal.com/no_poo and another community for the curly-girl method here - http://community.livejournal.com/curly_girls - take a look through their recent posts and in particular their memory sections which will have a lot of information for you too.

I have the same exact thing. First, i don't care what anyone says, DO NOT LAYER YOUR HAIR! Best stuff to use is sunsilk, you can use the green one, its the best for this. Its called De-Frizz, tames frizzy hair into well behaved waves and curles, there is shampoo and conditioner, but the best is this hair lotion. You have to use the hair lotion. I use the hair lotion, and Tresemme shampoo and conditioner. Good luck, if you want more info, im or email me. Also you can try the sunsilk free, go to walmart and the free samples, you can get some there.

i got my hair cut a few months ago and the lady cut way too short. my hair poofed out the way you explained (though mine's not curly) and was very fly-away. I went to walgreens and bought a straightener that was only 15 dollars. i use it every morning now even though my hair has grown back. it worked so well and still helps better that any smoothing gel i ever used on the flyaways!

you need to weigh it down with product. for example, i also have weghtless curly hair and i put gel and hairspray in it when i get out of the shower. it weighs it down and air dries beautifully.
DO NOT STRAIGHTEN IT....you hair is dry and frizzy...if you abuse it with heat and chemicals it will make it worse. i promise.

Pureology has some great products that will help a lot. make sure you use plenty of conditioner, and use a conditioner with pepermint oil in it (but avoid tea tree oil)
