I drive a 1989 Ranger, and I do not have a security system. I installed the stero system myself and made it unremovable unless you know wehre the locks are. I imporvised my own stero security system. The way to get you're car to the point when no one will break into it, is make it look unapealing. My truck has rust on it and little scratches all over it, but it looks like every other truck out there. I did have my truck broken into a wile ago, they didn't get the stero, and they couldn't start it either, but they did take about 20 CD's. I installed a kill switch, which if it no on, it disables the clutch sensor and will not let the truck start. If you buy a fancy car, or if you make it look really good, then you will more then likly be the car that is broken into. mine was broken ino becasue it was the only car in the parking lot.

Use a security bar and that will deter people from steeling the car. and keep everythiing out of sight and that will keep people from breaking in. If they really want in, they will get in.

I had my truck stolen. It was gone for about 4 weeks. It was finally discovered parked on a road next to the county jail. Made me feel like the police are 100% worthless. Any way it didn't have an alarm system so it was easy pickings.
My best advice for not attracting thieves is drive a car that blends in. If it turns heads, some of those heads will be thieves. Don't do anything to display wealth. Hide all valuables out of sight. If you have high end or really nice stereo equipment try to camouflage it in your dash. And of course the obvious don't park it in areas with high crime rate. Get a reliable alarm and carry insurance.

Unless you have your car locked in a garage at night I would not have expensive equipment in my car. The bad thing is these things are not covered by insurance either. My car had some damage caused by someone who was going to break into it but I guess they saw that I only had the standard radio that came with the car and changed their mind. If you cannot lock your car up then check into security systems and pick the one you think will work the best.

An alarm helps, don't advertise what you got....keep the stickers off the window, out of sight out of mind. Don't drive around your neighbourhood with the stereo cranked if you got a nice one.
No one is going to break into a car unless they think they're going to get something.

relatively I even have. I stay in a very small city. They stole my cd participant face and a few cds. They couldnt get the participant out. What a waste to them that section became into extraordinarily a lot ineffective. They even had rubber gloves and left them in the automobile. the comparable night my sister in rules automobile have been given stolen, she left the keys in it ( small city). They have been given caught some days later and we've been given the stuff lower back. We didnt be attentive to them or no longer something. My wager is that in the event that they have been given something stable they may be lower back!!!!

Drive a crappy car.
Have a crappy stereo.
Leave your window down.
Leave the keys in it.

That's what I do......and I've never had a problem.
