jelly is made from just the juice of the fruit, jam is more like a mashed or pureed fruit that is cooked down and the pulp is included in the jam as well as the juice from the fruit you are canning.

There are variants, but usually jelly is made with just the juice of the fruit and jam is made with the whole fruit. Jam is also called "preserves".

Jelly - does not have fruit preserve its only the flavor of the fruit
Jam - mas fruit preserves, chunks of fruit

It depends on what you like and how you want to use it.

jelly is clear (it's called clear because it's just the color of the fruit) jam has chucks of the fruit in it.

diffent process in the making, but jelly doesnt have seeds and jam does...........
