The religion of self, atheism, is egotistical.

A man rejects God neither because of intellectual demands nor because of the scarcity of evidence. A man rejects God because of a moral resistance that refuses to admit his need for God.

Ravi Zacharias, Christian

Egotistical?

Egotistical is thinking that you know more than the sovereign Lord of the universe Who gives you the next breath of air in your lungs. Egotistical is denying His existence and mocking Him.

Egotistical is saying, "I don't need Jesus. I do just fine without Him." Especially when it's obvious that you can't get through a day without doing something to hurt yourself or someone else.

Egotistical is putting yourself first, which is exactly what you do when you deny God and refuse to accept His love for you. That, my friend, is real egotism.

Religion is egotistical because you think that the creator of the universe takes an interest in ME, loves ME and listens to ME, while condemning the rest of the world.

Pretty simple...

A definition of egotistical could be:

The assumption that the creator of all things living and dead, and the ENTIRE UNIVERSE, still cares if i covet my neighbors wife.

Surely a being of that power has better things to do than to stalk me while i am going about my life.

Quite frankly I am not sure what you were getting at in that "question". Science is egotistical too..individuals in anything can be egotistical.

I'm not sure I understand your question, but no, I don't find religion incredibly egotistical. Religion is about overcoming one's ego.

Who knows why you think anything -- come to think of it, who cares why you think what you do? How terribly egotistical of you to think you matter to anyone but G-d.
