In a big peace gathering for Muslims in Bangladesh. By peace, they mean asking the "radical" Muslims to stop blowing them up for not living under sharia law.
Nice, but isn't too bad women aren't alowed to join them in asking not to be killed?http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/asiapcf/02/04/bangladesh.praying.ap/index.html

I am not sure if you have known about Islam and its practices. The women are not allowed in mosques randomly. Meaning, they are not forbidden from entering the mosque, but would have to sit separately with some kind of partition or 'purdah' to segregate them from the men.
In the annual Biswa Ijtema (biggest congregation of the Tablig Jamat) that was concluded recently near Dhaka where some 3 Million people attended, the ladies do attend but due to the same reason or 'purdah' or veil etc., you may not see them in that kind of numbers. You may have noticed that our past 15+ years government leader of the house (Prime Minister) and the leader of the opposition in the house were both ladies and they would go to this 'peace gathering' which were telecasted live on TV and got wide media coverage.
Your question which has been sarcastically asked to show that Muslims all over the world are just waiting to either blow someone up or getting blown-up by themselves.
May be you are watching Fox TV and such kind of propaganda too much or you are a foreigner (Caucasian or Indian) living inside Iraq now and thinking that Muslims all over the world are having same mindset that the jihadists are having in Iraq, Palestine, Kashmir and such places where they are fighting for their own 'cause', no matter how much you ridicule them.

Well Bangladeshi people were concerned for their wives, sisters, mothers safety. You see I have visited Pakistan (Bangladesh used to be East Pakistan) there it is very crowded and unsafe, (crossing a street is a life and death matter) so that is the reason most likely why women did not come out. In a mass gathering there is a high risk of danger, and the people actually care and wish to protect their females (which is every Muslims duty). But why are you taking away from the fact that 3 000 000 Muslim men marched for peace? Thats HUGE,
Praise be to God.
Peace be with you

Hi, I'm a muslim and I would like to explain.
Islam is more of like better safe than sorry, so here's some math:
Mass gathering + woman = what could happen?
Islam is more strict around the moral issue.

Stop relying on biased sources. I have experience of living both in West and East... and its a fact here in West woman is more like a toy then there in East. Less rapes, less prostitution, less violence, specially if we talk about middle east. But yes I agree to some of ur point.

Yep.
In The middle east, women are 2nd class citizens. In a court of law, the testimony of one man is equal to the testimony of two women.
They see the women as second rate and don't want them. It's a very sad thing.
