Nothing wrong with being totally blunt with people that disrespect you or people that just don't get it, but it sounds as if this is just a guy who liked you and there is nothing wrong with that. In situations like this it's ok to lie a little bit or not be so blunt, you should always try to consider others feelings especially if they mean no harm to you, which it sounds he didn't. Picture in your head a guy that you had the biggests crush on and he just blurted out, hey I DON"T LIKE YOU, now doesn't that sound just mean and hurtful? I would try to talk to him and explain you didn't mean it the way it sounded, but you are involved with someone else and that you think he is a nice guy. Things like this among many other things for teens can really hurt their self-confidence and we shouldn't want to do that to anyone, it's just not nice and you should always treat people the way you want to be treated, when your older you will feel better that you did. Bottom line, I would approach this person and apologize for being so blunt, but your seeing someone else.

You've told him the truth, don't EVER like a guy out of pity or guilt. Be friends with him, or offer to be that, but come on, you're in middle school. he has a lifetime of meeting more girls that he'll just "like". I wouldn't worry about it too much. The best advice I've ever recieved was not to date until I was 16... thanks to my parents, so I got out of a lot of situations from guys I didn't like who liked me, I just said, "Um, I can't date until I'm 16" and they dropped me like a rotten tomato.

But do ask to become friends, who knows, that's potential to have a great guy friend. Those are hard to come by. But don't feel guilty for telling him the truth, it's better than leading him on until he loves you and telling him then that you've never liked him.

You did nothing wrong. You were straightforward and honest with him and did not cause him any physical or emotional harm---so don't feel guilty, don't talk to him, don't say do---it's his problem, not yours....
