We in Birmingham, Alabama greatly need your help in sustaining a minyan (which is slowly decreasing because of the age of our members) and to create an Orthodox community.
We have one Orthodox shul for the entire state and our membership consist of few families and every Shabbat about 10 families show up and most of them are up in years. We would greatly love if you would check us out at http://www.knessethisraelcongregation.org/index.htm
We have a community Day school of 100 kids k-8 grade http://www.nemjds.org/
We also have plenty of job opportunities in University of AL at Birmingham where most of our members work in. Plenty of science research, nursing opportunities and etc.
Please email the shul at knessethisrael@msn.com and we would be glad to assist you in any way that is possible if you would like to learn more about our community.

Are things really that bad?

sigh, I am sorry to hear that.

unfortunately I am in no position to move anywhere. In a few years G-d willing when I am married I will consider it.

Though I will tell you what happened in my home town in Houston which is now currently booming with new young religious families moving in at a rate of one or two a month.

Its not easy, but build a Kollel.

the young couples will build up your community and others will follow them.

its members will serve also as teachers in N.E.Miles and will also build an outreach movement in Birmingham.

Thats my advice to you. I wish you hazlacha

Sorry, we plan on making aliyah soon...I will post your site elsewhere if you would like me to, though, and hope you will get more responses...I for one would not really like to live in the Bible Belt...but b'hatzlacha and good wishes to you.

Your question sounded like it was referring to baseball.
