I don't think that's a fair assessment. Many people grew up without pets so they don't really know what owning a cat or dog is like. They might think all animals are the same and maybe they encountered a bad one somewhere along the line.
I never had a pet as an adult and then I bought a house that came with a yard full of cats (the elderly lady who lived in the house did not know she had momma cats with kittens living under the house) and there are a lot of strays or dumped cats in the neighborhood.
This weekend I had one of the little strays die. I have been crying and crying over this little cat's death and how unloved it had been it's whole life except the last 3 weeks when it showed up in my yard already too sick to be helped. If I hadn't been dealing with cats, I might not have noticed the stray. But I am glad I did and I am glad that she had a little bit of human kindness at the end of her life even though it makes me very sad she didn't have much for the majority of her life.
Give those non-cat people the benefit of the doubt. They might someday buy a house with cats and learn the ways of the cat.

You are right - I think there is something untrustworthy about people who hate cats. Cats are mysterious and independent by nature. They are not obedient like dogs - they don't come when they are called. They are more reserved than dogs. I think these are some of the reasons why some certain types of people don't like them. Maybe it's people who have a need to control their pets that don't like them. But personally, I love cats and just can't fathom how anyone can hate them. They are the sweetest, most loyal pets once you have earned their affection.

They do say that you can tell a lot about people by the way they treat animals. People who say they hate animals, cats, dogs or any kind probably don't like people much either. That does seem to be true of the people I have met who say they hate cats.
I much prefer cats to dogs because I admire their independent ways I feel dogs are much more of a tie. I don't hate any animals.
Oh yes, and I am allergic to cats so that's no excuse for hating them.

I don't hate cats.
I think big cats are beautiful creatures but I fail to see why anyone would want a poxy domestic cat for a pet. As far as I can tell most cats only come home to get fed then sod off to crap in other people's gardens. My next door neighbour is getting a bit miffed that I keep picking up her scabby cats poo with a spade and flicking it at her front door but I don't think she'd like it if I dropped my pants and took a dump on her front lawn somehow. If thats what you want from a pet then fair enough but give me dog any day. They're fun, loyal and encourage you to get a bit of excercise.
I've observed that people who keep more than one cat are often creepy old curtain twitchers who invariably are single, smell like urine and all the local kids are terrified of them. And almost always women.
By the way - whats with the sex change? I'm finding myself kinda turned on by you now.

The anonymity of this communicate board shall we the risky out of a few. relatively everyone I even have ever pointed out has now no longer been appropriate nor will ever be. The older i'm getting, the extra suitable laid lower back i'm getting approximately life and seeing concerns in a broader technique. cases too rapid for absolutely everyone to tear on a stranger for something. Ain't gonna get you a front row seat in heaven. ( now no longer that I won that coming in spite of everything) Meanness hits each physique at one time or one extra. Controlling it or removing it relatively is what we would desire to be shooting for.

Firstly, I love pets in general. I have a dog and 2 kids. But in all seriousness, is it not true that they like to be clean in their "own territory". As for my territory they like to be unclean and as for toms spraying their wonderfully perfumed scent up my privet bush..... !! I think that cats do know that I am not to keen on them, cause they always want to sit on my lap, when there are plenty of other laps to sit on. All that said, I wouldnt go so far as to say I hated them. But my dog does.

People who hate cats might of been egyptian in a past life. They might of been a slave who had to look after over fed and over pampered cats... ya never know. Personally... I grew up with a dog who was only a year older than me, he was like my big brother, used to let me lean on him when I was learning to walk and get upset when I fell. He died three days past his 14th birthday, I miss him terribly!! I find it so hard to hear about these dogs killing toddlers and no I don't think its down to their breed either.
However to answer your question, when I got my own home a got a cat. I was never allowed to be near them as I'm allergic but I did always love playing with the local cats who came near the house. Now I have two cats. I love them!!!
Its said that people who like cats are more delicate, they think on things more.
I think dogs like company, cats are good either way. Trust has to be earned with both. In my opinion, dogs and cats are good company. I'll never own cats after these two, my health has suffered for it, their worth it though. So I'm going to enjoy them as much as I can.
When you feed a dog, it looks up at you and thinks you are god,
when you feed a cat, it looks up at you and thinks I am god.
:) I like this, I thinks its coz cats do that " I love me, who do you love"? look soooo well :)

I heard years ago that men who dont like cats are not very good with women. I dont know about women not liking cats though, probably some dont like them because a cat is so independent and they might want a pet (or person) to be more dependent on them.

I do love cats. They are aloof, independent and very perceptive. I think that there are two reasons for people not liking cats. The first is the cat's refusal to be bullied or dominated; only by gentle persuasion and bribery will a cat do your bidding. The other is cats' apparent ability to read human character and pass judgement. Human observers of the cat's judgement may allow this to influence their own opinions.
