I agree with the last answer! I'm an expert, ski all the time, and I LOVE the bumps. I think the skiing is working everything but my abs. I know having strong abs cant hurt (especially for the apres ski) but the only six pack skiing is going to get you is your favorite winter beer. But isnt that skiing, really!

Skiing works the core muscles, including abs. Staying centred on your skis, particularly in bumps, requires use of the abs sometimes. But I wouldn't expect huge changes. Specific exercises for your abs would be much more effective.

I don't know about the other two answerers, but I, as a female, have found that I can gain my six pack back over the winter.

I usually don't work out all that often. I am 5'5" and 120lbs, but not very muscular. However, when I ski, I notice that I start to gain muscles in my legs and muscles in my abs. I am an expert skier as well - the terrain probably causes me to work harder.

I cant imagine skiing directly engaging your abs,i snow board and know alot of skiers n they havn't exactly got bulging six pacs.u need to work them through more direct excersise like crunches n gym ab machines
