My cat's whiskers and eyebrows were burnt. I think she was under my furnace when the heat went on. I don't see any burns on her skin, but I am concerned. Is there anything I can do to make her more comfortable? Should I take her to the vet?

They will brow back, but keep her inside where she'll be safe. Cats use there whiskers to feel their way through openings, without them she could get stuck. She must have been cold to go under the furnace.

Don't know what color cat you have so don't now if you'll be able to see very well (lighter cats are easier to see). If her regular fur on her face is not also singed, she's probably ok but If she'll let you, inspect closely the skin under the fur (gently) on her face to make sure it isn't reddish. If it is, she's got burned skin. If the skin is not blistered then she'll be just fine (just like if you burn your skin but it wasn't bad enough to blister), depending on how bad, some face fur may fall out but will grow back in (most probably, nothing will happen and the whiskers will grow back in). If she is fussing at her face, trying to scratch or paw her face unusually (not her normal grooming), then she might have a more problems that you probably would want to see the vet about. Probably she only whiskers got burned and nothing else. Try to create a barrier so the cat can no longer get under the furnace too (and they can be very persistent, annoying and destructive trying to get somewhere they want to be so make sure the construction is solid but doesn't endanger everyone else by obstructing air flow, etc.)

If they look infected, a vet is always good. But check the eyes tomake sure there is no damage there. some are curious with candles too

They will grow back eventually. I used tripleantibotic salve on my cats when they got hurt. kept down infection and heal fast. ofcourse when daughter cut off the whisker by accident: they still grew back. cat just looked really funny for a while..

If it is only her whiskers, then she should be fine, Whiskers themselves are simply stiff hairs; they do not have the ability to feel anything, just like our own hair. If you have reason to believe that her skin may have been burned, then you should get her to a vet for treatment.

If you can't see any burns and she's acting normally, a singe isn't an emergency.
Just to be safe, you call call the vet and ask on Monday.
Mine just singed herself on a candle a few days ago- she was fine but man the house stunk. She also had a big clump of wax on her fur. (She jumped up on a table to get near the bird, and there was a candle lit on the table which she landed on.)
Cats can be pretty stupid sometimes.

whiskers and eybrowns are mainly cosmetic and they will grow back if there are no skin burns dont spend your money on a vet, just wait they will grown back.

in any case if it makes you feel better about yourself and want to make sure there are no internal injuries consult your vet.

cheers

the best thing to do is to take her to the vet for an examination just to be sure.
