these days alot of wedding do not even have wedding favors..but you could do what my friend did. She just bought the mixed bags of hershey minatures or hershey kisses (good idea for a wedding) and sprinkled them down the center of the entire tables. They are the best favors...you can eat them while waiting for dinner and you don;t have to worry about taking them home and throwing them away. Another idea I think is cute is hershey kisses roses. Try hersheys.com and you can get the directions on how to make them. You could put them in vases on the tables and they serve as your table decorations too. As for invitations you could go to your local office supply store or craft store and buy invitations you put in your computer and make. Good luck.

Search online... I found beautiful fairly cheap invitations from Ann's Weddings online. I was lucky enough to have friends to help with decorations. I had a hard time with favors though so I searched on ebay for ideas and ended up making my own. I went to walmart and bought about 4 cases of bottled water at $4 a case. I'm pretty good with a computer so I made a little design with daisies (our flower) and a little saying with the date of our wedding and our names and I printed them on sticker paper. I cut them up and then took the labels off the bottled water I had bought, and put my new labels on them. We got married outside in July (in mississippi) so it turned out to be a wonderful and very helpful favor!

For dresses and things you can have a look on Ebay. They have some unworn wedding gowns and bridesmaids dresses as their wedding plans fell through. For the groom and groomsmen hire their suits rather than buy them. Flowers can be done with fake flowers, you can get some very nice real looking ones. You could also just do very small bouquets with real flowers. Have the beach wedding, followed by a small reception like a cocktail one. Also many people have been having morning weddings followed by a brunch. Brunch is cheaper than doing a 3 course meal. It also means the alcohol bill isn't as much as people aren't getting drunk at 11am. I'm in Australia and the new craze is Friday night weddings. They are much cheaper as the restaurant or reception venue isn't losing alot of money because most people have big functions on saturday or sundays. So that could be another option. Also check out "cheap" season. Many places drop 100's of dollars off their prices trying to get people in there. Like and above poster said, don't skimp on the food. Food is what people remember. I would rather go to a romantic ceremony filled with love and a reception with nice food than a poshed up ceremony with crap reception food. Also more people are going without an open bar and going with a money off system. So you's would put however much money over the bar and get the staff to discount drinks by $1-$2 or whatever you feel is a good discount. My best friend worked her prices out as $2 for a beer or wine (with her discount for guests) and $5 for a spirit. Which is so cheap here and it was great no-one minded and she put it in with her invitations so that her guests knew to bring money with them. She had a card with the invitations that said "For the night drinks will be discounted to $2 for beer and wine and $5 for spirits. Soft drinks and orange juice are free" People understand and gone are the days where you don't put your hand in your pocket at weddings.

I am a true believer in Michael's Arts and Crafts. They have some addorable favors, beautiful invitations and decorations. Most are do it yourself. But the price is a fraction of what you would pay someone to do them.
Good Luck!

I got my invites from Ebay and added some "garnish" to them with ribbons and feathers. I had scrolls which I printed up myself on the PC, then tied with ribbon and added to fluffy marabou feathers tucked under the scroll. They cost me £25 for 25 invites. For decorations I am using candles, candles EVERYWHERE!!! I am also using huge glass bowls that will have water and pebbles in them and having floating candles. As part of our buffet we have ordered a "bouquet" of chocolate dipped strawberries, they are arranged like flowers and look very pretty.

The cheapest option would be mints in cute favor boxes. Mints are sold in lbs and favor boxes are usually sold for a dollar or less each.
It's cheap & edibel so people won't throw them away :-)
