There are more 15 year olds with nothing more on their minds than buying that new stereo with their paycheck, than there are qualified, experienced people doing it for the love of it and / or to support a family.

I think it's a disgrace.

I don't care how old you are, don't apply for the job if you aren't willing to give it 100%.

I am so annoyed with McDonalds. I eat there at least once a week and can't remember the last time I ordered a simple cheeseburger, fries and coke and actually got what I ordered. If 15 year olds can't remember what the job involves, give people who WANT the job a go!

Service is a lot better these days than it used to be. One thing to remember in Australia is that you don't tip unless you want to do so. People are paid a reasonable wage. If you get good service and want to leave a tip, do so. If you don't get good service, don't tip. In some parts of the world tipping is expected for every service, it isn't in Australia and it is quite OK to wait for change in a taxi - and you will get it too.

The level of service in Australia is really quite good, but like all countries ,you'll run into a small number of rude people.I've noticed that regional and rural areas are generally more friendly then the cities.

We do not have a service culture since Jack is as good as his master. (Some people might say he is better.) Though some people are trying to ram a service culture down our throats, thank heavens enough of us are throwing it up right back at them. Personally, I think it is un-Australian and slightly disgusting.

However it does depend on the business. Some places are good, others not so good. Same anywhere, I expect.

We're a pretty friendly bunch down here, but remember, Aussie's are generally easy going, so if you are all uptight, you are generally not going to get a good reception.

Australian's love travellers and love to travel ourselves, so most people welcome you to our lovely country. However, there will always be some arseholes... Sorry about them in advance...
