I luv hot chocolate! I would boil the milk, or microwave it, and I prefer the powder, but whatever you like. I have an excelent William Sonoma pepermint hot chocolate which is really good, but the hersheys one is also ok. I would add a little whipped cream to make it sweeter.

never boil milk, the consistancy is filmy...
start with a double boiler, melt chocolate and a dash of vanilla extract, slowly wisk in heated(not boiled)milk and a dash of sugar and wisk until a little frothy. pour in a large mug and top with whipped cream.i use whole milk for the richness. you can add peppermint candied or a hersheys kiss on top of the whipped cream y. you can also add marshmallows, or powdered cocoa or cinnamon...ENJOY!!!

With milk:
1) Warm up milk on the stove or in the microwave.
2) Add the powder (powder tastes much better)
With water:
1) Warm up water on the stove or in the microwave.
2) Add the powder
3) Optional (tastes better in my opinion). Add half in half.
Powder tastes much better I think. -Rayna

To make the absolute best, in my humble opinion...use milk, cocoa powder, sugar and a dash of salt. Heat milk in pan, stir in cocoa, sugar and a dash of salt. Amounts are on can. Don't let milk boil, just get hot. One thing to try, dip buttered toast in it, it's the best!
