There are a couple of steps.

Training a cat to be handled is part one. I have done this with many a cat. It is better if you start them off when they are kittens. But I have had to do this with adult additions so we could do medical treatment and so they behave.

You do not have to spank them or use aggression. All members of the house hold should participate in these rituals to enforce it to the cat that humans are pack leaders and not the kitty.

You carry them around like a baby or tuck them under your arm, and hold them carefully despite the fact that they may want to jump down.

You don't let them get down when they want. You let them down when you are done holding them. Do this all the time and have other humans in the house also do this.

DO NOT do this while a dog is trying to nip the cats butt because it is excited that you are picking on the kitty. I had a friend that didn't understand why the trick didn't work for her and the cat was always frantic until I saw her dog trying to eat the cat while she was doing it.

Next Step to "calming the playful kitten"

Regular medical attention like ear cleanings, trimming nails, playing with their paws and tails and just casually sticking your finger in their outer ear area like you are going to clean them is annoying but goes back to the breaking the dominance habit but includes, "for your care". The only other option you would have would be to start licking your cats face but I don't recommend that one. Just remember that momma kitty will sit on the kitten and lick its ears against its will.

Next Step in dealing with the playful kitty

Designated areas for insane kittiness. perphaps not the drapes? but perhaps a kitty tower or room or area where it is totally acceptable for the cat to be insane with the toys all over the place. The cat will know it is its own area when you do tips such as cat nip on the kitty tower, keep tossing all the toys there, maybe put kitty treats on it all the time or a little piece of tuna occasionally, so the cat associates it with "MY FURNITURE".

An Important factor to dealing with obnoxious kitties

Patience. And love.

Haha! i have been there, many many situations. you already know the way contained in the vet's place of work frequently they are going to have a tech carry the animal in a grip even as the vet does the paintings? you ought to do this - perchance with one or 2 helpers, one to gently yet firmly carry the cat's head and yet another to carry the different legs. i ought to indicate hostile to giving the cat something to calm it down except it is prescribed with assistance from the vet. a great number of drugs that paintings on human beings may be deadly to a cat. also, catnip will likely hype the kitty up - you do not favor a cyclone of claws and teeth going at you. in case you feed the cat something like warmth milk, questioning it ought to get sleepy like we may, it may fairly get worked as a lot because the point the position you've a cat milkshake throughout you. i am hoping this enables!

12 months old is one year- that makes her an adult cat.
If she can't be calmed at this point, honey, you have a high-strung cat.
