I got my two kittens spayed on Wednesday. Both of them have a hard spot on both sides of the stiches. This afternoon, I discovered that Annie's wound was weeping, and was much more swollen than Megan's. I can't afford to take them to the emergency vet, but will be taking them to regular vet first thing Monday morning. Any suggestions for the meantime?

I just went to petco and bought an e-collar for her to protect her belly. Poor baby. I feel so bad for her. I think she may try to kill me tonight... ;)

This same thing happened with my puppy when we had her neutered. They used sutures on her wound, and her body was rejecting them which made the wound weep. Taking her to a regular vet worked out fine, however. I think your kitten is probably okay unless it is weeping at a very alarming rate.

In the meantime, I would just watch her to make sure she isn't licking or scratching at the stitches so that it doesn't get aggravated more than it already is. Make sure she's not playing too rough or moving in a way that will pull at them. Really, I would just watch to make sure the wound isn't weeping more than is safe and make sure she's not acting like she's in pain.

I'm sure that your vet will get her fixed right up when you take her in. :)

Oooh- leaking and hard means full of fluid/pus.
Why can't you call the vet and ask? If he did the surg, he is responsible for adverse outcome (infection).
Kitty needs antibiotic and fluid drained. Another 12 hours may make a difference in whether kitty recovers.
I would hesistate to do anything, and BTW, DO NOT give meds to kitty- they are unable to process many human analgesics becuse their liver enzymes a different, and most meds go thru the liver first.
