awww ur gunna look so pretty when u get ur braces off ur teeth r gunna be so straight! and here are a cuple tips:

1. dont listen to peeps when they tease u about the braces cuz u know that ull look way prettier than them when u get them off
2. dont chew gum - it makes the brackets fall off sooner
3. dont bite into apples - same effect as bubble gum
4. DONT PRESS UR LIPS against ur braces - it hurts so frikkin badddd!!!!
5. try to avoid kissing with some1 who has braces.....its a mess.
6. BRUSH UR TEETH!!!! its so important to brush ur teeth when u have braces cuz the food sticks to ur braces and can make ur teeth get unhealthier faster. so u shud brush in the moring and night for at least 2 minutes straight.
7. FLOSS!!!! cavities move in within a couple weeks if you don't floss - and this means that ull just have ur braces on longer if u dont take care of ur teeth
8. PAY ATTENTION to wat the orthodontist says - if u want to know ANYTHINg---ASK!!!! ask the ortho. dude/dudette person - they're no question that's stupid.
9. SMILE!!!! show off ur pearly whites!!!! be proud!!
10. be confident.

k i cant think of anything else --- hope i helped!!!!!!

11. oh yea! when u get ur braces on at first--- ur teeth r gunna be SO SORE!!!! for at least 3 days ur teeth r gunna hurt and you'll have trouble sleeping at night. i remember the first night i couldn't sleep it hurt so bad. but it goes away within a couple days so i suggest eating jamba juice and smoothies and applesause for the first few days.

Okay. Relax =] I got my braces off last summer, and it's bark is much worse than its bite. Braces, and pain effect different people in different ways. For me, it only hurts for the first few days. I took a pain-killer when I got home, but I think it would be better for you to take it before you go in. For the first few days, your gums would thank you if you ate only soft foods. Toothbrushes again, then totally depend on the person. Some people like soft tips, so it doesn't rub up against your gums as much, but I bought an electric toothbrush so it's more effective of cleaning my teeth. Cavities are very common with braces, let me warn you, because food gets stuck in the brackets, and without the proper cleaning, could lead to cavities. I suggest investing in floss. You'll be fine and the dentist will tell you anything that you need to know. Also, sorry but no gum, even though I didn't listen when I did it. ;-] Good luck, and don't worry!

I just got my bottom braces on yesterday, just be prepared for very very sensitive teeth. I'm currently eating things I can't chew like soup, juices, and swallowing rice (I cant even hit the fork with my teeth or they throb for almost half an hour)
If your orthodontist doesn't give you a little case of wax for your teeth, go buy some. It's only about $1.50. You can tear off a piece and but it over the bracket to prevent your gums from getting scratched up or cut, or just not feel the metal. I put it on when I go to sleep, and take them off in the morning, or if it hurts really bad, I just wear them all day. The wax is clear don't worry. Also don't brush them the first week, it will hurt so bad and you'll regret it later. It sounds disgusting but just rinse your mouth very well with mouthwash. You won't be able to chew for the first week, just eat soft foods.

Good luck!

Take something for pain before you go to bed on Friday because even though it probably won't hurt at first, it will the next day. If you can't brush your teeth after every meal, forcefully swish water in your mouth and try to avoid too many breads (not pretty). And whatever you do, DON'T GET THE DARK GREEN BANDS! I did that once and I looked like I had spinach permanently stuck in my teeth. but lime green's okay. Oh, and try to set aside a good ten to twenty minutes for flossing every night. trust me, it'll take a while. And if the wires jab you in the cheek, tell the orthodontist. I have permanent scars on the insides of my cheeks because I thought the wires were supposed to stick out. It shouldn't feel immediately painful so, if it does, something is wrong. Best of luck!

I had braces. & they weren't so bad. I still ate everything I ate before I had them. My orthodontist told me that if I didn't brush morning at night then I would have permanant stains. That's a lie. When I got them off I did have 3 stains but they weren't in the shape of a box. They were just hard to reach spaces. I got rid of them when I wasn't even trying (I was 14 [didn't really care]) I get compliments on how straight & WHITE my teeth are every time I got to the dentist for a check up or cleaning.

Be careful with certain foods that can damage or break the braces. I'm sure the dentist already told you this though. Use an electric tooth brush like a Braun. They are much more versitile and can effectively get into tighter spaces.

The first couple of days will be the worst. You'll feel like you got punched in the mouth! Your teeth will be tender.... remember that feel when you were little and a tooth would be loose? Its kind of like that. Have lots of soft foods ready. Also, be sure and get wax while you're there. You stick the wax on the bracket (the part stuck to your tooth) and it will help smooth anywhere that its rubbing to much. Good luck!

braces are uncomfortable for the first few days. just do everything the orthodonist tells you and you'll do fine. i just got mine off in november and i love it! i didnt like flossing them but do it like very 3 days or something so youre at least doing a little. try not to eat to much hard stuff cos i broke one of my braces off by doing that and the replacment bracket is one of the most annoying things ever!
PS if your orthodontist supplies the wax stuff that you can put on a brace for discomfort, it dosent really work. also, you might want to pack a lot of yougurt and other soft foods cos itll be tender the first few days. Best of luck with your braces!! ♥ you won't regret it, i swear

well first of all get ready for the pain. its going to feel like your teeth are going to fall out but its gets better after a few days so stick to softer foods. also you may get headaches because of the braces but that depends on the person. make sure you use the wax they give you if you don't want the inside of your mouth all torn up. you will also feel slight discomfort every time you get you braces tightened but after a few appointments and your teeth pretty much look the way they're suppose to it doesn't hurt that much anymore. also if you are going to have to use elastics don't put them on right after you get your braces tightened because its just going to hurt more.

I loved my braces and you prob wont (not to be mean but a lot of kids dont like them) Im a kid myself and the best thing is to brush after every meal. Also kissing is ok you will NOT get stuck to the person you are kissing. Also use the special tooth paste they give you at least 2 a day.
