I just got my Tx license last September. You have to pass the written test, which is fairly basic, then they'll tell you you need to come back & take the road test.

I was suprised as I passed the written at like 9am, but they said you have to come back, early (like at 7:30 when they open) & they assign you a road test time.

The road test takes about 10 minutes & you parallel park at the DPS, & then drive around the block . Be sure to come to a complete stop at signs.

Then you go back in & pay, they give you a paper license & you get the real one in th email about a week later.

Good Luck!!

Honestly i dont know why it is so hard for you to get drivers license b/c if california they are plain stoopid, if they said all you need is what you said it should'nt be so hard for you to get it. I live in Ste.Genevieve Missouri, and all you need is a vehicle of you friends or family to take the test you dont need all of that besides you drivers permit, and another thing is you have to try to park parallel in a small space, i would suggest you move down here or go somewhere else to take the drivers test and then move back to cali or go to another DMV in california to take the test dont feel bad i was 18 going on 19 2 days before my 19th b-day and i past the drivers test, i wish you the best and good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!! with love Amber!!

Be sure to also take your birth certificate and if you have one a school id. You will also do an eye exam while there so if you wear glasses don't be coy, bring them . . . you can always take them off for your picture. To get even more informatio, you can always go onto DPS web page. GOOD LUCK!!!
