You may want to keep them seperated for a while. Obviously the kitten is afraid and is attacking because of that. Then, get them used to each other a little at a time.
does the kitten have an easy escape route so that it doesn't have to be NEAR the dog? such as a cat tree? If it can get away then it will be less threatend.

You didn't mention if your kitten was doing it in an aggressive manner or playful manner. More than likely, she/he is exploring their new territory and the dog is part of that. If you see her/him do that again, get out a cat toy and encourage her to play. It could just be she/he needs more attention right now. Kittens require a lot of watching and playing, much like babies. I had a new kitten once and she would attack our older cat. He didn't like it, but he put up with it. I think he knew it was a kitten playing though. But she would just saunter by like she wasn't up to anything and then get behind our older cat and attack. It was actually quite funny. Also, get a cat house (if you don't have one already) that also can act as a scratching post. That will encourage your cat to have some fun there and take out the energy elsewhere. I'm sure he/she will grow out of it. It's just part of being a kitten and a kitten owner (something I will be again soon myself). Good luck!

Its all in the cats instincts after a while living together, they will end up being best buds. Keep your eyes on them, and make sure that the dog never attacks the kitten, and spend time with the dog close to you along with the kitten to show them how to get along...be the mediator...good luck

As long as the dog isn't fighting back find a way to make the kitten not find it enjoyable. When ever you see your kitten attack your dog then squirt it with water. My cat doesn't react much to scolding, just water. My cat and dog didn't get along at first either, but now they will sleep right next to each other. As long as the kitten isn't hurting your dog or itself just punish the kitten. Remember it takes time.

put vinegar and water in a squirt bottle (a powerful one)
and squirt the heck outta the kitten when she does that!
Soak her down good!
Catch her 'in the act' or she wont know why your doing it...
AND make sure to trim the kittens nails short so that she doesnt hurt the dog!!!

Did you do a gradual introduction with your pets?

You should correct your kitten when he/she attacks your dog.

What you can do is contact your local animal shelter or rescue group and ask them how to correct this problem. They would be more than happy to help you.

It's probably had some very bad experiences with dogs probably stray dogs. If its possible keep them away from each other because when cats and dogs are born together they are best friends.
