This is interesting. I find I write much better when I have a drink in my hand and I suspect many of us are the same. Probably something to do with inhibitions. In the morning I can't fault it and am amazed how well it reads. Many newspaper writers are half- cut all the time.

No, but you should try this one, another Australian drink. It's a **** Sucking Cowboy. It's beauiful made from Archers with Baileys Irish cream on top. You might feel a bit stupid asking for it in a bar and the barman probably won't know what you're on about but you'll love it once you've tried it

When we were kids you could get this drink from the ice cream van and it was called...wait for it...a "floater "! Obviously because the ice cream floated on top. It was great to mix it with your drink and it made a sickly but sweet horrible frothy drink that tasted delicious.

Yes, I have an Australian friend who calls this drink a 'spider'. I found it novel as a kid but would never drink it now!
