I realize that Christians have done evil in the world, but so have many other groups of people. Among other things, Christians have established hospitals, stopped people from killing others, helped to establish justice systems where there was none previously, donated to help the poor, formed free countries (America was established by Christians), and cared for many hurting people around the world.
I would say that Christianity has done plenty of good.

I would prefer to think more "good" than "bad;" knowing full well that Christianity....or should I say ZEALOUS Christianity...is responsible for an enormous amount of death, suffering and torture.

Basically, the concept of treating others as you would be treated is NOT specifically a Christian idea.

A short amount of religious history will bear that out.

Most of the world's major religions have more in common than that which divides them.

Religious INTOLERANCE is what's responsible for all the "bad" stuff.

Good, because if the Holy Spirit was not here, there would be way more bad things happening. And Christian organizations are here to help others, too, and have made a real difference in people's lives.

Neither. People have done both good and bad in this world...but emphasis on the bad.

It depends on your definition of Christianity. Jesus said that by the fruits of their works and the love they have among themselves, you'll know who his true followers are. (Mt 7:15,20; John 13:35)

It is ultimately a question you'll have to answer for yourself.

Have you never heard of The Salvation Army, Samaritan's Purse, Doctors Without Borders or World Vision? True Christianity obeys the commands of Jesus Christ to clothe the naked, feed the hungry, heal the sick, visit those who are sick and in prison, look after widows and orphans etc etc. Just because someone commits an evil act and claims it's in God's name doesn't make it so. By their fruit ye shall know them. If their lives and actions are not in tune and harmony with God's Word than they are liars and do not represent God, nor do they act by His authority or according to His will.

Look at the U.S.
What has happened in the past 30 or so years? We have taken God out of our schools, government, society. The UCLA that used to be for people is now an anti-christian organization.
Has our society gotten better? or are the prisons full? Is suicide rates increased? How about divorce? How about missing children and pedophiles?
Our society is worse because of turning our backs on Jesus. He will allow us to keep it up.
Sad. Very very very sad.

Charlemange, Constantine, the Crusades, the Inquisitions, the Holocaust, the genocide of the native American peoples, US slavery, Salem Witch Trials, the list goes on and on.

A real sweet bunch, they are. I'd have to say bad.

The operative word to answer your question is INTERPRETATION.

Interpretation of course is influenced by BIAS.

Bias leads to a tendency to limit a search for information.

A broad lack of information leads to ignorance.

Combine ignorance with fear and one can be lead to accept
almost anything.

What do you accept. You do have a choice either way.
