there is this guy at my school, Donnie, and i swear he is the dumbest and most immature person in the grade. he gets so annoying, especaily since he likes me and always wants to just hang around my neck.

well my best friend Jackie(whom is over weight) had called him, and he called back and left a message on her voice mail. we listened to it later and it went like this:

*(laugh laugh)heyyyyyyy! (laugh laugh) HIPPO!!!! (laugh laugh)*

I recognized another voice to be Donnie's best friend Coby. I know it really hurt her feelings. I am sure they were just trying to show off for each other by acting stupid like that but I still made me so angry but i am not sure what the best way to handle it is.

If anyone could help that would be great!! Thanx.

why would they do something to get attention that makes me mad, if they like me?? i dont get it. Coby told me that he didnt even know what was going on because Donnie just told him what to say into the phone. which i mean i kinda believe him because he was not even there when the whole hippo thing started so Donnie had to have told him. Coby is usually a better person than Donnie anyway. so yeah.

Donnie was sort of being wierd though today, he was trying to talk to me again.

Well...do you want to date people who are unkind...even cruel to others and think it is funny? And I don't buy"he didn't know what he was doing"....how naive is it to believe that? And what kind of "best friend is Coby by acting that way?

You need to pay attention to what kind of people they really are....
they don't mind hurting people who you say you care about.....
they are immature and think treating people unkindly is a funny thing to do. Do you?

I would say "you guys blew it, and we aren't interested". Being over-weight is difficult for some people. You can help your friend
by teaching her how to eat better....you know how, or you wouldn't have her problem.....but don't allow others to miss-treat her if she is your friend. That's what being a friend is all about.

I have been in Jackie's position. It hurts.
The BOTH of you should know that people don't always behave in appropriate ways (ESPECIALLY adolescent boys!). I tell MY girls that testosterone makes you retarded.
Boys are clueless when it comes to a LOT of things, but GIRLS are at the absolute TOP of that list.
In an adolescent boy's mind, ANY attention from a girl (GOOD OR BAD) is a good thing. He just wants to make sure you notice him. Unfortunately for HIM, it will probably be several years before he figures out that the way he treats a girl's friends is VERY important to her.
The best way to handle it is to give him the COMPLETE cold shoulder. Don't speak to him, don't look at him, don't stay in the same room with him (if at all possible).
If he approaches YOU with an apology, let him know that it is Jackie he owes an apology. If he is not willing to give it, stay away from him permanently.
Unfortunately, there is no way to restore Jackie's hurt feelings. Just let her know that YOU don't feel that way, and there are PLENTY of guys who won't either. I KNOW that sounds like something your mother would say, but it's true.
I KNOW!!

Tell your friend that she does not have to feel bad about what Donnie said. Because if he makes fun of other people and acts so immature then its going to back fire 7 times more than what he said to your friend! I can already tell that he is so f@$#%& annoying by the way you described him making fun of your friend! but would you take his side and laugh at what he said to your friend! If I were you I would not even talk to him!!!!!!!!!!

Concentrate on building your self esteem before you know it you will me out of school and the things that seemed earthshaking before wont even be on your radar and if you ever do think back on them if you develop a healthy attitude you will give yourself a funny grin and wonder how any of it could have ever concerned you

Just ignore it. If they know they got a rise out of you and your friend, they will continue to do it. If you don't encourage their behavior, they will lose interest and move onto other childish immature activities.
