can i ghost my computer by doing this and what will it do?

i want to us symantec ghost 2003 by connecting and usb from my laptop and at the end of that usb cable is another usb that will be connected to my desktop. i would like to ghost my laptop. and i have two harddrives on my desktop that will only be used for ghosting my laptop and my desktop. is this something that i can do or is there something else that is better.
