well, if you fail to view your Jesus construct objectively ... yes. however, once you manage to see your Jesus construct for what it is you can examine it for clues to your own psychological make up. what kind of Jesus do you believe in? is your Jesus construct a nice person? tolerant and loving, accepting of flaws, helpful and forgiving? or is he the judgmental Jesus hurling lightening bolts of "truth", pointing a wrathful finger at your every sin as the maw of hell yawns under your feet?
it's important what kind of Jesus you've constructed from all the bits and pieces you've gathered from your church, your family, the media and society because that construct is the model of your spirituality.
i no longer have a Jesus construct. i don't need a projected image of Truth anymore so i have no deity construct at all. the basic structure of my personality has a strong foundation built on empathy, much of which is modeled on the kinder aspects of my Jesus construct.
