There are many things you can do to relieve a toothache, but it's important to understand that a toothache may represent a very serious dental problem and relieving the pain may only be covering up a problem that needs to be treated by a dentist.

With that said, go to this web page (http://discountdental4u.net/toothache.htm) and scroll down until you see a list of 18 different ways you can relieve a toothache.

Going to the dentist is the best tip. For a relief of toothache try some clove oil directly on the tooth, or some teething gel. If your not asthmatic ibuprofen takes the edge off.

How bad is it?

You can use paracetamol and ibuprofen together safely (different compounds) and bonjella. I recommend asking your pharmacist/dentist for advice.

Also get an emergency dental appointment as if the ache is caused by an infection, antibiotics will stop the pain in a day or so.

DON'T use whisky etc as its very dangerous!

If all the usual pain killers don't work I'd use tiger balm ointment. Rub it on your cheek (not inside your mouth) and it'll set up a tingling feeling that works in the same sort of way as TENS. The receptors transmit the tingle not the pain. Whilst waiting for a dental appointment I found it was the only thing that worked for me.

Firstly the strongest painkiller you can get your hands on - one with Ibuprofen would be good as it'll help with inflamation.

Then corsodyl mouthwash - a dentist recommended me to use it when I had an abcess on my wisdom tooth.

Finally clove oil applied on it helps too.

Ouch - I am feeling your pain - there's nothing worse!

Apply Orajel after taking Advil or Tylenol. When the Orajel wears off the Advil/Tylenol will have kicked in. Repeat every 4-6 hours until you call your dentist. I recommend calling your dentist as soon as possible.
