As with all things fleshly and earthly, if we put any one of them ahead of God, then that thing is a sin to us.
Drinking is one of those things that many humans have a weakness for and if they drink at all, it becomes what is most important for them to continue to do, even if they say they do it in moderation.
I know a man that states that it is a sin to play golf. For him it is, he knows that if he starts playing the game again, that it will once again consume his life and he will put it before all else.
The bible teaches that nothing should be put ahead of our worship and love for our creator.
The bible does mention drinking quite often and it even tells me that as a woman, I should have a drink now and again to prevent bitterness (read into that what you will)
It states that a person put in charge of a congregation (church body) should not be a partaker of wine at all.
Sometimes when a person realizes that a particular thing is a sin for them, they tend to want to take the temptation away completely and want all others to see it as a sin also. This happens quite often with the subject of alcohol. The bible states point blank that it is a sin to be drunk. Timothy was told to take a drink of wine to calm his stomach ailment.
SO, yes unless you are the leader of a church body, you may have a drink if it is not one of your fleshly weaknessess.
You may not get drunk no matter who you are.

My opinion is that the bible was written by men with an agenda.
If Jesus turned water to wine and drank wine himself how could it possibly be a sin to drink?

If Jesus did not agree with drinking, he would not have turned the water into wine at the wedding in Cana.
The Bible has many verses that refer to drunkenness as being unacceptable to God. It appears that the Bible teaches that the use of alcohol is permitted, but not the abuse of it.

Well, Jesus said to remember him when we drink the sacramental wine they he and the disciples had a little too much of in Gethsemany.
Jesus asked God to take his wine cup away and God didn't.
Scientists say wines are good anti-oxidents and help combat the ills fatty foods like Lamb, which Jesus and his disciples ate that evening, cause in terms of heart disease.
Obviously God and Jesus knew something we didn't back then! Ye who eats lamb and drinks wine may live longer than ye that eats lamb and drinks water. Especially the water they had back then!

No it is not a sin to drink but if you do it to get drunk or feel better than yes. But than again everyone sins when they age. Only about a cup of alchohal is alright but that is just my opinion i've never had a drink before though so i don't really know.

Yes it is a sin, drinking is for a low class person. What is the difference of drinking one drop of lethal poison and one cup?
Therefore there is restriction of sex life, there is restriction of drinking wine, there is restriction of meat-eating, and there is restriction of gambling. Because these things are bad. You cannot become good by indulging in bad things. That is not possible.
We should not imitate, but follow. If Jesus ate fish, and drunk, but that is Jesus, we are not in his level or purity. If you want to imitate him, then also make the blind see, walk on water and bring to life a dead person, then you can eat meat and drink, other wise, don't, just follow, don't imitate, that is cheating.

It is not a sin to drink as long as you do not drink to excess, in my opinion. Then again, that depends on the religious philosophy you choose to live by. Drinking and getting behind the wheel is an irresponsible choice, despite what one's religious preference may be.

Of course it would be bad to drink and drive. That does not make it a sin to drink. Jesus did drink, and it was fine. Just don't be gluttonous. That applies to most things in life.

The holiest man I ever met was the Bishop of Lewes who visited my school. This man was special. Putting a softly spoken person in front of a load of teenagers is not usually a good idea, but when THIS softly spoken man spoke we all fell silent. There was quite an atmosphere in the room. The man was a bishop and a monk. He told us he was often asked if, as a monk, he drank. He said his reply was:
"Drink? We invented the stuff!"

Its not a sin...jesus him self drank wine and in the story of noah it talks about him being plastered and his sons being mad at him...but noah said it was all good (not those same words). So drink and be happy and celebrate with your fellow man, just don't beat people and be a angry drunk.
