Because otherwise, people would live sinfully and without Him in their hearts and then right before Christ came back they would repent and expect to go to Heaven.
God doesn't want this...He wants us to live our lives fully for Him.

He didn't keep the time of Christ's presence a secret. Matthew 24 gives some of the signs to look for when he takes power and begins ruling. And bible prophecy, much of it in the book of Daniel, also points to when he returned, or when the Gentile times (or appointed times of the nations) ended. What IS kept secret is when this system will come to an end by means of God's war of Armageddon. That date he even kept from his Son. (Matthew 24:36)

If a person knew the time wads far, they could sluff off.. the return of Christ and being prepared is a purifying hope
It also helps us identify bad teachers who come up with false times schemes, of which there are many
The JW predicted the return of Christ about 6 times in the last century alone and they are haldly the only ones

Cause Christ isn't coming back. Christ doesn't trust god anymore cause god let him die the first time and did not intervene or assist in anyway to get him off the cross. God double-crossed Christ 2000 years ago and the trust is gone. God however would like us to think he's coming back but some of us know that he's not.

because if people knew when Christ was going to return they would clean up their act before hand. the whole idea behind Christianity is that you have to be "saved" to go to heaven. If people know when Christ is coming back they may do all there sinning and right before he comes back...ask God to save there soul. that's cheating...God wants to know who will be faithful to him and continue to be faithful even in these times when the world is so sinful. this is my opinion...it doesnt mean that its right, but this is why i believe God didnt reveal when Christ was coming back.
