Since I can't put the answer to this question in my own words, I will refer you to the Catholic Church's teaching on the Trinity, which is the most fully developed and thorough, since the Catholic Church is the oldest Christian denomination.

I believe this article from the Catholic Encyclopedia should answer all your questions about the Trinity.

Ok......The trinity is the three parts: God the Father, God in the flesh (Jesus), and God in the spirit. God and Jesus are the same thing. There is only 1 God. The holy Spirit is God in the Spirit. God sent himself down in human form (Jesus) so that he could tell the ppl more about God and how if they fallow his word they will have everlasting life. And then he would later die on the cross for our sins./

There is truly only one God. But he has help with his only begotten son Jesus and the Holy Ghost. God is a exulted being who had spirit children of which we are some of those. Jesus was the oldest spirit child and the closest to God He was also the only one who God himself fathered in the flesh. Of the Holy Ghost not allot is know except that he to is a member of the God head he has chosen to remain in spirit form until all of Gods children have had the opportunity to get a body like the fathers (flesh and bone).

I will give you the best earthly example of the trintity I know:
I will use the SUN for this analogy. First off, the Sun is an object. Secondly, the Sun is heat. Thirdly, the Sun is light.
One object, three separate manifestations.
Gods spiritual realm is not subject to the laws and boundaries of our physical world.
Have you ever seen a rainbow? How many different colors do you see? Is each color a separate rainbow? Or do all the colors combine to form a single rainbow?
Another analogy would be water, at certain temperatures water is liquid. At other temperatures water becomes a solid (Ice)
At other temperatures water becomes vapor (steam)
Christ Jesus is the very essence of God, sent in a physical body in order to dwell with humankind.
God Bless You.....Peace.

Scriptures:

Genesis 1:26
Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."

notice 'our' not 'my' - God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit - 3 distinct individuals, one God.

Scripture:

Matthew 3:16-17
16As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. 17And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased."

God the Father speaking, God the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove and God the Son, Jesus, fully human, fully God.

There are many attempts to 'explain' the fullness of the Trinity, but God is infinite and to our finite minds we do not fully comprehend the 3 making 1 concept. You might think of it like water - ice, liquid and steam - all individually water, all together water. Hope that helps.

Okay, in Genesis chapter 1, we find reference to God, His length of existence, and about His creations. Then reading goes on and on to when Jesus was born, the Christmas story in Luke chapter 2 and to the crucifixion in Matthew27:31-38, Mark15:20-28, Luke23:26-32, John 19:16-18 just to list a few and then after Jesus' resurrection in Matthew 28:2-4, we begin to read about the Holy Spirit. The trinity is God- the Father, Jesus-the son, and Jesus' arisen spirit form is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is what governs a Christian's conscience and works like that in our minds to help us stay on track or to feel bad when we don't so that we remember to do what Jesus taught us to do when he lived on earth. And then we know God will answer all of our prayers. We pray to both God and to Jesus because they are both on the throne as Father and as King with the Holy Spirit in our hearts and minds to keep us ever mindful of our service to God. Does that help? Dear Lord, please take my inadequate words and bless my efforts in trying to help someone understand about You and aid this person in finding out what your will is for their life. Answer the questions and clear up the doubts that he or she may meet me one great day and talk face to face together in your kingdom, Amen.

Check out the Nicene Creed. It is about who God is and what roles each person of the trinity has.
We cannot with our falible minds understand how 3=1 or 1=3
However, there is nother way to understand the Bible without this.

The concept of the trinity is that God is one being with three aspects (or manifestations or persons or roles).

For example, I am one being. To my spouse, I am a lover and a provider. I am weak and vulnerable and a co-equal. To my employees, I am an authority figure. I am powerful and knowledgable. To my dog, I am a source of pleasure- I provide food and play and belly scratches. I have a number of roles but I am one being.

That's a very simplistic way of conceptualizing the trinity. Of course, God is more complex than me, so understanding all of his aspects is more challenging.

Think of 'God' in one sense as a team or family. Therefore, there can be '3 in 1'. The three mentioned are God, the Father, God theSon (Jesus), and Godthe Holy Spirit'.

There are not Three Gods. God is God he is the heavenly Father. He is all powerful, all knowing, and a Loving Benevolent God. He sent his son to earth, that is Jesus who died for our sins. When Jesus resurrected and saw the apostles again he sent them the Holy Spirit which was placed in their hearts & soul for courage and love.

He can do this because he is God again an all knowing and powerful God!!.
