So I have these end tables, with those glass tops that are un-attached, and you just set the table top on these little rubber buffers that help keep it in place. Well I took the tops off one day to move furniture around, and when I went to put them back on, my friend said I was doing it wrong. The glass has a beveled edge design, and I had always put the tops on with that edge facing up. She says your supposed to face that side down, cause when you set stuff on the table, it could teeter on the beveled edge, and fall off. Whatever! It's not that important, just curious if there's actually a right or wrong way. ;)

Sorry to tell you, but your friend is a dumb***!LOL ~I have two sets of oak tables with the belveled glass, and the belveled side goes UP, YOU are totally correct! They are made that way so the light will relect off of it and you can tell they are beveled:) Whatever you do, don't break any of the glass, it costs almost as much to have it replaced as it would for a new table...unfortunately I've had to do it before:(
Good Luck!!

Beveled Edge Glass Table Top

Beveled edge goes up. If you set it down there is no reason to have a beveled edge. It's no problem to put things on the table by being careful.

Yes, the beveled edge faces up. It is a decorative relief that costs big bucks! Otherwise furniture makers would just give you a piece of cut glass with no detail..

I also disagree with your friend. The bevel is there as a design detail. What other "useful suggestions" does this friend have? They might be amusing!

Beveled side up

It's kind of a "How do you put the toilet paper on the roll" issue.

Do it how you want to. Besides, even if you do get that extra inch of space around the edges, setting stuff there is still asking for trouble.

you should see the beveled angle edge so it should be up nobody should be putting things that could fall on the very edge anyways

I think you're right. That's why they're beveled, for the design.
