I've only got what I can get when I can get it. Remember that warm fuzzy poster that was popular in colleges in the 70's. It usually showed a bird flying over the ocean at sunset, or an out of focus camera shot of a couple embracing at the beach. The words were to the effect " If you love something set it free, If it comes back to you it is yours." If you love someone with all your heart there still is no assurance that the love will be reciprocated. Holding onto to someone and not giving them the choice to leave or stay can extinquish the love you are trying to save. Now if you will excuse me, I going to drive off in a huff on the horns of a dilemma for a sweet roll in the hay. I wish you could ask more meaningful questions with real emotional substance. You are so shallow.

I think you can hold onto somebody, as long as you appreciate that both you and they are going to change into completely different people over time. Don't mourn the person they were, or the person you were either, and don't attempt to stand in the way of the evolution. Hold with them, hold on to what is core about your interactions and your relationship, and I think it's possible to maintain that relationship (be it a partner, a lover, a friend, a relative) throughout the passage of time and change.
I think it's important to try and remember what you have while you have it, so that you can love it and be thankful for the positive effect it brings to your life. I think the real danger is when you forget how much you have, and forget to value it. Those who maintain that you 'don't know what you've got until it's gone' might have a point, but I think it's one of our duties to do precisely that - to look at what we have while we have it, and value and cherish it so that it has a chance of staying alive.

"Only love what you've got WHILE you've got it"...
....
Well, I guess in that context, it certainly is possible for you to continue loving something long after it's gone. And, in fact, it is quite often more appreciated long after it's lost.
Call me a (insert expletive), but I would be more inclined to ask the question "Once I find it, how do I keep it?"
No one TELLS me that I can't!!! I can do whatever I want! And if I find someone and nothing makes more sense to me than to grab a hold of her and not ever let go, that's exactly what I will do!! Soooo... take that!

I think its true you cant make anyone stay with you if they feel they need to go.All you can do is love the best way you know how and let them know you care.People react to love in their own way.Sadly, some don't even know what it is.Love is a powerful thing and the best you can wish for is that someone special accepts it the way you give it,and vise versa.

No. It is false. Do not let the thoughts of the world enter your feelings. What hope and good would it be to not have a rich love that is beyond barriers of distance, time, and age? Look inside you. you know it's just not right to believe that love stops at various points in life.
True love... It's forever. It has to walls...
But what do I know? Like anything from me matters because I have yet to find this... Right?

I don't think that's true. I Believe that if you truly love someone you can hold onto them. But sometimes When you lose the one you love you'll do whatever it takes to get them back, and if it wasnt really meant to be then in a way you never really lose them in the first place...

i think thats true. because in the end, just because YOU love them doesnt mean they are always going to be with you, or that they love you back. And sometimes, even if you do love somebody and they love you the same way back, it might not be whats best in the end, or they may have to go for certain reasons.
