You DL http://pclinuxos.com and use it to open the hard drive and do a recovery. It is all explained in Kyle Rankin's O'Reilly book, "Knoppix Hacks, 100 Tips and Tricks". it is in the chapter about fixing windows.
Funny that Windows always needs so much "fixing".

After a system recovery it is a good idea to not connect to the internet until you have installed your anti-virus software with current definition updates. If your system is unprotected and connected to the internet, you could get a virus before your anti-virus software gets installed cause of the holes in Windows. The anti-virus software may detect a virus attempt, but should block it until you get the Windows updates installed.

shut down computer on start up keep pushing f8 and it will ask you what program than go in to safe mode and try that if it does not work start windows over with recovery disc

pull the harddrive and slave it into annother computer browse for your files and copy them over then replace your harddrive and do a complete format and reinstal windows
