Almost certainly yes if you passed your test on or after 1st June 1997. (new drivers act)

If you are not sure of the status of your licence call the DVLA on 0870 240 0009

Yes and No! there is a loop hole, if you have been banned for drink driving you get no points so you wont have to re-take your test after the ban.

If you rack up more than 6 points in the first 2 years of passing your driving test then you will have to re-sit your theory test and driving test.

If you have at least 6 points in the 1st 2 years of passing, in your case being banned it's a possibly yes, you will have to re-sit the driving test, both theory and practical.

If you get 6 points within the first two years you lose your licence and you go right back to square one, getting a new provisional, L plates, the lot including taking theory and practical tests again.

PS Must add, yes, there's a difference between losing your licence under the "new driver" scheme, i.e. getting 6 points, and losing it for other offences. Different rules apply. Oddly.

Your search for 'resit' did not match any dictionary results.

If you will tell us what "resit" and "resitting" means, someone perhaps could answer.

Generally if you have been banned, they have also told you what you need to do.
