I am a nerd and am shy when it comes to meeting new people. However, when I get to know them some I become significanly more outgoing. Do girls like guys like this?

However, once most folks (and certainly anybody worth dating) mature a bit, they realize that it takes time to get to know someone, to appreciate their humor, their values, and their intelligence.
Be respectful and kind... be funny... and appreciate people for who they are. And, be confident in knowing who you are and your own worth. That's probably the most attractive thing in either sex... that humble self-confidence.

Some do, sure! And I've always had a soft spot in my heart for nerds. The shyness issue would be a problem though. As long as you can make conversation and have a sense of humor, you're doing good!

Theres always a market for the quiet, intelligent, loyal types. That outgoing side waiting to break out is a plus.
Some chicks get a kick out of opening a dude up, and honestly you might be the type that scores the long-term relationships.

Yeah, Nerds usually turn out to be the best guys. As Boyfriends they're attentive and sincere. As friends they're there for you besides they're smart, so they usually have the right answers for you as well.

some of things i have read is that girls like a guy who speaks. they do not like guys that brag and are arrogant. i would say that once you identify the girl you like you should muster up the courage to find out what she is interested in and then talk about that. People love to hear about themselvs and the things they love. girls are not as interested in looks as much as they are in confidence and guys who have a sense of who they are and where they are going in life. good luck!
