I have a dvd remote for my home theatre system and its taken quite a bit of abuse from the times its dropped, and because of that it has problems functioning. When I put it in the freezer for more than thirty minutes it begins to work as if new.

Have you changed the batteries? does not make much sense that freezing it makes it work.Your push button pad is most likely dirty,try to pry open case and clean off contacts and rubber pad buttons.Use rubbing alcolhol.
