Same way we should deal with flag burners. They are protected by the first amendment, so without another amendment they have the right to protest, however I have a solution. Congress should pass a law making an "affirmative defense" against assault charges. If you smack the shlt out of some fool who is protesting at a military funeral or burning a flag, you can use the fact that they were protesting as a defense and not be prosecuted for giving them a well-deserved beating.

Are you sure they're Baptists?
There's a really weird religious group led by two female lawyers doing this all over the country, and I don't think they're Baptist.
What you can do is call the police and ask them for assistance. Unfortunately, they have the right to protest, but we would all love for them to step over the line and get arrested so the poor families can have some peace.
I think you can also try to muster some support for the families. Bring in your own group at the family's permission to attend the funeral. Because the protesters have to keep a certain distance from the ceremony, use your people to expand out the size of the ceremony. Let the family have their ceremony wherever they want, and put your goup in large numbers around the perimeter in a way that ensures the protesters are as far from the family as possible.

Granted, that is an extremely nausiating display to have at a funeral, but what the soldiers are fighting for is our freedom. Most soldiers would not want more fighting during their funerals right here on our homeland. I would opt to contact the local and state law enforcement and have them patrol and try to get those crazies as far away from the services as possible.
Geez! Can the idiots not find a more civilized and appropriate time and manner to protest?!!! Yes, they have their rights, but so do peaceful families who only wish to honor and pay last respects to their loved one!

Sounds interesting to me but how about this, passing a state/local law, "Honoring the Fallen", stating that, "if the protest interferes with the visual and audible boundaries of the soldier's immediate family during the funeral and burial service, he/she is subject to jail time and a fine to include, manual labor and paying for funeral expenses". If they don't respect the soldiers while alive then make the protesters honor the dead.

I'm not sure how to deal with them. I mean how would they fell if we did the same thing to them? I don't understand how protesting outside a MILITARY funeral. They're just compounding the pain of the loss of a dear son or daughter. They seem to have no respect for the family of our soldiers.

I think it would be cool if the Suprem Court ruled that a punch in the nose is free speech in that situation. Fortunately, there is a group of bikers who are going to most, if not all military funerals and keeping the lunatics away from the family. I think we should be glad that they behave themselves with dignity. But it would be entertaining if they let loose just once. . . .

I didn't know baptists were protesting at military funerals? Although I did hear of that one Nut Job that is pretending to be a Baptist and is. We made it illegal to protest a military funeral in our state. Anyways, there are always LOTS of us Vets at military funerals, personally, i'd like to see a few of those Sons a Bit**es at one. I'd shove a flag staff right up his A**.

I have seen those people from that crazy ladys baptist church but that church is not recognized by or affiliated with the baptist convention. Most baptist love our troops and despise that woman and her teachings. I would do a mass beat down if that happened at one of my family members funerals. They'll meet up with the wrong family one day.

These retards protested one of my closest friends funeral, but i couldnt attend since i was in iraq at the time, but i would love to get my hands on any of them and whoop the ever loving dog
sh_t out of them, and can guarantee i would get in no trouble. Freedom of speech has limits and they cross it all the time. I would like to thank the bikers who stop them on behalf of all military families who have lost a loved one and for my friends family.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I am from Iowa, and they've come here a few times. Some say that group is entitled to their "Freedom of Speech".
I say we should be entitled to the "Freedom to Break their Signs over their Heads", then. We can get law enforcement to cooperate; they can use their "Freedom of Speech" to say that they never saw anything.
