The last credit card I got was prob. around sept. '06, then oct. '06 I applied for pay pal on e-bay. I got denied and got a letter stating the reason why is CREDIT BUREAU REPORTS APPLICANT IS DECEASED. All the numbers I tried to call were automated and I couldn't reach anyone. Recently I applied for a home loan just to see what my boyfriend and I could get approved for. I warned the guy that my credit report stated that before. So of course my credit report came back saying the same thing. Only for Experian and Equifax, not for TransUnion. I have been having problems getting ahold of someone there. I sent letters asking what I need to do. Finally I found a number where I reached someone. They were rude at first and confussed. (imagine how I feel). Finally they said send a notorised paper stating that I am alive, a copy of my ID, and a electricity bill. So I am getting that done, asap. I'm just nervous why my report says that and if this will fix it. Has anyone heard of this? It's scary

Oh yeah to the first answer thanks. I didn't know that. It wasn't exactly JUST TO SEE though, we are wanting to move to a house within a few months, so we wanted to know what our price range was.
THANKS.

Send a certified letter to all three credit bureau's--they have to sign upon receipt. Your social scty number is still active which is proof you-- yourself is still "active" not deceased.
You can include any other bill as evidence (any one can obtain electric/water ect in a name) but a copy of your current driver's license and ssn card should provide proof.

Make sure social security dept has not reported you "deceased"

Only one number entered wrong by some overworked clerk can cause you a mountain of a headache.

Do this.....

Read the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Then go ahead and send this information to the credit reporting agencies....by certified mail/return receipt.

Inform them of the following:

1) Due to their error in reporting on your credit history, you have been denied credit. Include a copy of any documentation you have to support this....go back to the mortgage company and get a statement that you were denied credit due to this error.

2) Inform them that in accordance to the FCRA, they are liable for any damages that this report has caused you, plus penalties of $1000.

3) Inform them that unless your credit report is repaired within 30 days, you will file a small claims suit in your county court. If you can get a copy of the paperwork, fill it out and send a copy to them to prove you know what you are talking about and are ready to proceed with the lawsuit.

4) Watch the report get fixed real quick!

Contact me if you need more info. Quit being nervous....you may have just won the lottery! I love helping people with these types of cases.

It's not unheard of. There are many errors made on these reports, which is wghy you should order your free copy every year from each bureau.

Follow their directions and you'll get it cleared up fairly quickly. Make sure you contact both Experian and Equifax - you'll need to update it on each one separately.

By the way - never apply for credit "just to see". Every inquiry lowers your credit score.

Good luck!

in case you seen your credit rfile from experian on line then you definitely can log into your credit rfile lower back and once you do there may be the choice to dispute someplace on the website in case you click in this and then stick to the stairs and merely enable them to be responsive to that they've been paid then experian will touch the lenders and locate out whilst and in the event that they are paid and then in the event that they locate what you're saying is authentic they are going to replace your credit rfile now and lower back it may take in to 30 days for the outcomes to be displayed yet in addition they are going to deliver you a fact in the mail showing the variations made on your credit rfile, I even have had to try this various circumstances and that they constantly get it dealt with this form! better of success
