VLC is an *alternative* to Windows Media Player, installing VLC doesn't make Windows Media Player do anything that it couldn't do before, you need to actually launch VLC and use it *instead of* Windows Media Player.

You need something like PowerDVD because the Vlc decoder only works with Vlc Player. Google DvD decoder software.

This means Windows Media Player needs an outside codec to play this particular DVD (or, it seems, any DVD.) WMP (Windows Media Player) can play DVD's, yes, but this was never its intended purpose, so it's likely there's a few bugs with this. I'd recommend getting a player designed for this purpose. :)

VLC is not a DVD decoder but its a player which can play differnet file formats unlike WMP
but if u want to play different file formats like avi,wmv,rm,rmvb etc. including DVD in WMP then u need to install vista codec pack (not VLC)
