I want to buy a Nintendo Wii but I don't trust the seller so if I give the money via cheque and he doesn't send the item can i claim the money back.

No, the bank will not give you back your money once it has cleared. You would have to get it back from the seller.

It's best to pay by credit card when you can.

If this is an Ebay purchase you can go throughtheir dispute resolution - samething with Paypal. But they will not guarantee you can get a refund.

Bottom line - if you don't trust the seller don't buy it.

You can get money returned to you from a cheque you issued if say for instance you asked the Bank to Stop the cheque for you.

If they failed to carry out your orders especially if the Bank took the fee for the service then they will normally sort it out for you..

no the bank has to Honor the cheque. if you try to stop it the bank will hit you with a hefty bank charge of £30 or £50 don't do it

Take the seller to the Small Claims Court if you have his/her name/address and proof of payment.

E-bays buyer protection system is a joke...!
Try C.O.D. and that way you can try before you buy.
