Splenda and Equal are very similar but are not the same.
Splenda is rated - by pharmaceuticals as the worst and most dangerous of all the artificial sweeteners - as it has pure rat poison as an ingredient (Strychnine or something like that) and Equal has Aspartame another no-no - especially for women.

From an unscientific standpoint...
I've been using Equal for YEARS...
I went to this one store last month needing some more and they didn't have it.
So I bought a box of Splenda.
To be honest, they taste the same to me.
But I'm sure there is something to do with the chemical makeup that makes the two different.

equal uses aspartame is its sweetner. Splenda uses sucralose. Aspartame is not at all good for you, and should not be eaten regularly. Studies have proved sucralose as being a relatively healthy alternative to sugar (again though, not in huge amounts).

No, equal is made with aspartame, which some people cannot tolerate, but it is in a lot of products. Personally, I cannot stand the aspartame aftertaste.
Splenda is made from sugar. It tastes pretty good and usually does not have an aftertaste. I choose Splenda.
Although we don't know long term uses of either, really.
