1 is just plane incorrect
2 is correct

Range is how far you can go
Endurance is how long you can stay up

Best range may well not be achieved at best endurance, you burn less fuel as you fly slower but you can't fly as high so your true air speed is much lower.

1 results from people with poor English skills being hired to write technical literature. It is actually describing fuel consumption and the duration of the flight. Duration and endurance are not the same thing.

The range is how far the aircraft can fly. I've never heard of an aircraft spec called "endurance". That is a human term. For example, I remember reading that the B52's range, with inflight refuelling, is limited only be the endurance of the crew, in other words how long the crew can stand to be in the air, or as long as water and food they have onboard holds out.

In aviation, the "endurance" of an aircraft refers to the maximum amount of time it may remain in flight with a given amount of fuel.

[range is the] Extent or distance limiting the operation or action of something, such as the range of an aircraft, ship, or gun.

Historically, range is something you would measure in miles or kilometers, so the second answer makes more sense. You might say, "The range of this jet is 1200 miles". I don't think you would say, "The range of this jet is 400 gallons".

Best possible answer is 2. If you really think about it, it makes more sense.
