The first answerer is probably correct in assuming Sam is deceased, since he would be about 97 years old. The ZABASEARCH below is live Sam Bakers that the birth date was not known.

People finders.com has 10 entries, but no confirmation on 1910. That site has living and deceased entries. There was one that is 97 years old in the deceased search. Reports cost money at this site.

Since it is unlikely Mr. Baker is still alive, you start your search with the Social Security Death Index. Put his name in the search engine. The results should tell you the year he died and the place his last check (or the survivor's check) went to. It will also give a place of birth, which will come handy, as there are probably more than one Samuel A. Baker out there.

Next go to US Gen Web. Find the state and county in which he died. The county forum page should give you information for obtaining a death certificate, and may have links to cemeteries and obituaries. There is always a link where you can post a query, too.

Once you have found out as much as you can about his passing, go farther back in time. An obituary can help with this, because they usually list next of kin and tell where the person lived and their occupation, if they were in the service, etc. Try and find out when and where Mr. Baker was married, and to whom. Write for the marriage records-often they have parent's names on them.

Then go farther back. Go to heritagequest online, which can only be accessed via your library card (or at a public library). This site is valuable in that it has copies of the US Census from 1930 back, and they are searchable. You can put Mr. Baker's name in the search engine and see if you can find him. If you do, you'll find not only his age, place of birth, and occupation, but information about his family as well. Go back to Cumberland Co PA in the 1910 census and see if you can find his parents. You can also use heritage quest to look up county histories-check Cumberland County and see if there isn't an entry for Mr. Baker's father or grandfather.

Basically, if you follow this procedure for each generation back, you'll get a lot of information.
